Happy Catholic Schools Week! We love our Catholic school!
The science fair is Tuesday and Wednesday, February 6th and 7th. Stop in to see what each grade is learning about in science.
Lent begins on Wednesday February 14. We will be discussing how we can increase our prayer time, help others, and sacrifice something each day. Please talk with your children about their choices and how it feels after they have done those things. We will also be praying the Stations of the Cross every Thursday at 9:00.
We will not be celebrating Valentine’s Day this year because it falls on Ash Wednesday. On Tuesday the 13th students may bring in cards to simply exchange in class. If children want to bring in Valentines, they must bring in one for each classmate.
Everyone is getting excited about the auction coming up on April 13th. Please help the room parents with our Get Away themed basket. In addition to our class basket, maybe you know a business or you yourself would like to be a sponsor for the auction. Maybe you or someone you know would like to place an ad in the Program Book or is willing to donate an item or service to be auctioned. Please remember this is our largest fundraiser and we need everyone to help in order for it to be successful. Now is also the time to get your friends together and plan for a fun evening. Hope to see you all there!
Please continue to have children practice math facts on a regular basis. As we continue to work with fractions the students need these facts to come easily. Please be sure the math journal is referred to when children do their homework each evening.
We are working on Unit 4 in reading. In this unit we focus on generalization, draw conclusions, using graphic sources, and theme. Grammar includes learning about pronouns. We continue to work on responding to what we read as we write RRJs. I will be assigning specific genres soon for the RRJ. This ensures that students read a variety of books.
Soon a research report will be assigned. This cross curricular assignment will involve researching a president. More information will follow soon.
A reminder that every Tuesday morning extra help is offered. Please let me know in advance if your child is attending, and what area they would like to work on.
