Mrs. Galipault’s Third Grade
Happy November! It is hard to believe that it is already November and that Thanksgiving is right around the corner. We have so many things to be thankful for!
Things are progressing in 3rd grade! During this month, we will continue working hard.
In Reading, we will be finishing up Unit Two which focuses on “Smart Solutions”. Each of the stories includes examples on how problems can be solved. We have been having wonderful discussions so far and I’m sure they will continue with our next three stories: Prudy’s Problem and How She Solved It, Tops & Bottoms, and Amazing Bird Nests.
Please remember, reading logs are due at the end of each month. Reading for just 15 minutes per night will improve your child’s fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, writing and spelling!
In Writing, we have been working hard on a lot of different pieces and that will continue during the month of November. Most recently students wrote about what they are thankful for. The papers are wonderful and will be on display on our hallway bulletin board during this month. Please stop by and read them if you can!
In Religion, we will be learning about the Church Year as well as the marks of the Church.
In Math, we are starting to learn about multiplication. We will be doing a lot of practice to memorize our facts. During this time, we will also continue to practice our addition and subtraction math facts and have our weekly Mad Minute challenges. It is rewarding and motivating for the students to see their skills improve. Please continue using www.xtramath.org at home. Keep up the good work!!
In Social Studies we will be using this time before Thanksgiving to learn about the Native Americans and the Pilgrims.
