Mrs. Gagliardi

Fourth Grade

My name is Mrs. Gagliardi and I am thrilled to be joining the St. Bridget School family this year! I began my teaching career in 1998 after graduating from Stonehill College in N. Easton, MA with a degree in Elementary Education. I taught 1st grade for 10 years at St. Mary Magdalen School in Oakville, and left when my son was born so that I could focus on raising a family. I now have two wonderful children-Anthony (age 11) and Gabriella (age 9), and was able to be home with them for 7 years before I returned to the teaching field as a substitute teacher in Plymouth. I worked in Plymouth for 4 years and left there to take a full-time position teaching 3rd grade at St. Anthony School in Winsted for the 2018-2019 school year. I absolutely loved 3rd grade, as well as being back home in Catholic school. I couldn’t be happier to be joining the SBS team as the new 4th grade teacher-it’s going to be an amazing year!

In fourth grade, we learn about a great variety of topics. We study religion, math, science, social studies, reading, language arts, and Spanish. We have enrichment classes in Art, Physical Education, and Music. In grade four, we practice and write in cursive. Our two fourth grade classes share an IPad cart, and grades four and five share access to Chromebook computers.

This year, we learn about our state’s history, and engage in hands-on learning by taking a field trip to the State Capitol. We read some great literature from different genres, as well as expand our writing skills to write more detailed stories and essays using different writing styles.  In math, we build upon what we know to work with larger numbers, as well as learning new math concepts. There are so many exciting things to learn in 4th grade!
