Mathematics Class Expectations:
Entering Grade 6 Student should be able to apply the following mathematical concepts:
- ALL FACTS
- Multiplication FACTS through the 12th table
- Identify and name place values to hundred billions place
- Identify and name decimal numbers through the hundredth place
- Round whole numbers and decimals to nearest hundredths
- Estimate sums, differences, product and quotients
- DECIMALS:
- Add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers and decimals
- Multiply four digit numbers by three digit multipliers
- Long division: Divide multi digit dividends by one and two digit divisors
- Find quotients with zeroes and remainders
- FRACTIONS:
- Write and determine if fractions are equivalent
- Add and subtract fractions and mixed numbers with like and unlike denominators
- Multiply and divide fractions and mixed numbers
- Identify polygons: triangle, square, rectangle, pentagon, hexagon, octagon
Entering Grade 7 Students should be able to apply the concepts from Grade 6 along with:
- Know Math FACTS fluently
- Calculate decimals and fractions
- Evaluate mathematical expressions using order of operations
- Use powers and exponents in expressions
- Interpret graphs: circle, line, bar
- Identify and name decimal numbers to ten-thousandths place
- Calculate area and perimeter of a triangle, square, rectangle, trapezoid,
- Find area and circumference of a circle
- Compare and order fraction and decimals
- Express terminating decimals as fractions in simplest form
- Express fractions as terminating and repeating decimals
- Express a percent as a fraction and vice versa
- Find the percent of a number
- Solve one and two step equations

Entering Grade 8 Students should be able to apply the concepts from Grade 6 & 7 along with:
- Know Math FACTS fluently
- Calculate decimals and fractions
- Integers and Absolute value
- Calculating Integers
- Solving one and two step equations containing rational numbers
- Solving inequalities
- Calculate interest or discount of an amount
