Welcome to Our Library
Welcome to Saint Bridget’s Library … a magical place where King Arthur rides off with his knights to pursue their quests … where spaghetti flows endlessly out of Strega Nona’s magical pot … where the children of the world invite us to learn of the lands in which they live … where our students meet characters in stories who remain their friends for life.
Yes, the mission of Saint Bridget’s Library is first to create an excitement – a curiosity – a love for books. Be it a biography of George Washington, a non-fiction book about horses, or a fiction series book such as Little House on the Prairie or Harry Potter, there is a book choice for every child.
Saints come alive in our Religious Biography section, giving our students the heroes and heroines they need to read about today! And let’s not forget the youngest among us – sounding out those letters, striving to read “those big books.” Our Pre-K and Kindergarten children are surrounded with baskets and shelves overflowing with leveled readers and “easy, everybody” books.
No library is complete without a good STORY-TIME and Saint Bridget’s Library is no exception. The stories we choose to read remind our students of God’s love for them, and how very special they are to Him (Max Lucado’s You Are Special / You Are Mine.) We read about loving and caring for our family members (I’ll Love You Forever / The Giving Tree.) And through the books we read, we bestow this same care and love on the world in which we live (One Child, One Planet.)
Library skills are included in our library program. Students are taught various library genres, ie: biography, fiction, non-fiction, reference works, and periodicals. It is important for them to be able to research books on line, identify classifications given by the Library of Congress to each book, and locate these books on shelves in the library.
We invite you to visit Saint Bridget’s Library to see what awaits your children … to savor its peaceful atmosphere and quiet beauty … and perhaps to borrow a book.
See you soon,
