Happy March! I can’t believe how fast the time has gone by. The children have grown tremendously since the beginning of the year.
The season of Lent is upon us. We will be attending the Stations of the Cross weekly. We will learn about the sacrifice Jesus made for us. We will talk about good deeds we can do or sacrifices we can make to help us grow closer to Jesus. We will learn that prayer is a way we can talk to and listen to God. Finally, we will learn about the Last Supper
During the month of March we will be reading a classic fairy tale, and a non-fiction story, and two fantasy stories.
We will be working on the sounds of G, J, L, W, and short e. We will continue working on consonant blends. We will also continue to learn about the naming part of a sentence as well as the telling part.
We will practice identifying cause and effect. We will also be working on identifying the main idea of a story and the plot. We will review character and setting.
Please continue to practice the Word Wall words at home with your child. Our new words for the month are: one, two, three, four, five, here, go, from, yellow, blue, and green.
Math This month we will be combining and comparing sets. We will practice counting on and counting back from a given number. These activities will increase our awareness of addition and subtraction. We will use these and additional strategies throughout the remainder of the year. We will then review patterns. We will end our month learning how to tell time to the hour and half hour.
