JANUARY STUDENT MINISTRY
During this month of celebrating the gift of Catholic Schools, our Student Ministry joyfully rings out with the call to service!
As we fulfill our mission as Jesus taught us: “to love one another as I have loved you,” our students daily hear the needs of our brothers and sisters in our Church, school, community, and surrounding towns.
In December, we were able to send Carolyn’s Place over $300.00, and the response to the needs of our Food Bank, the COCO 5K Run for the Disabled, the Mitten Tree Program, and the Gently Used Coat Drive was overwhelming!
“For whatever you did for the least of my brethren, you did unto me.”
Thank you! Without the support of our most generous and caring families, we could not do this!
And now in January, the joy of sharing rings true again! This past Saturday, under the leadership of Mrs. Ciampi and Mrs. Bajohr, the ministry of family and students joined hands and filled 700 luminaria bags, and lovingly placed them and lighted them around our Church, and each Light of Hope carried our prayers for all those most in need of hope, especially the poor, the sick, and the Petit Family Foundation. The joy we receive as we share what we have with others always fills us with great love and caring. Again, we thank all of our families for the gifts of time, talent, and treasures, and we especially thank Mrs. Ciampi and Mrs. Bajohr for making this such a warm and spirited event on such a cold day and evening!
During the next couple of weeks of January, our students will be bringing in food items to help to restock the shelves of the St. Vincent de Paul Center in Waterbury, who daily prepare meals for the homeless men, women, and children of the area. The winter months of January and February are the months of most need, and so our Student Ministry will be providing items such as salad ingredients, potatoes, rice, pasta, canned goods, and snacks to fill the shelves and refrigerators once again for this shelter. Grade level assignments will be going out this coming week, and I thank you for anything you can do!
During the last week of January, we will be making sandwiches for this same center as well as providing ingredients to make soup. Please watch for Grade Level Assignments for what we will need, and again, thank you for your caring!
May our Student Ministry continue to reach out to those most in need and to all those we should remember. It has been such a blessing for our students. It is such a joy to watch how much they care and want to help. They ALL always give their very best to our Student Ministry, wanting to share their time, gifts, and talents in order to help their brothers and sisters they don’t even know. They truly feel the love of God and the love of family, and it is because of you that they have such hearts of gold. Thank you!
May we all always be ready to share what God provides, and may the New Year bring many blessings to all of our students and families!
Most Sincerely,
Mrs. Judith Rowinski |
