Volunteer Groups
Bingo Volunteers: Since the proceeds from
the Thursday night parish bingo benefit the school, the HSA supports
this function by providing volunteers. At the beginning of
the school year each class is assigned a month for which the parents
will provide on-site kitchen assistance and baked goods to be sold
at the bingo for each Thursday of that particular month.
School Lunch Program: The school lunch
program consists of two phases. First, the preparation and distribution
of coupons used by the students to obtain a hot lunch, the tallying
of the coupons to place lunch orders with the supplier and the
inventory and the purchasing of the supplies used in the program.
The second phase places a team of volunteers in the lunch room
each day to serve the lunch and drinks, attend to the needs of
the children and clean up when the lunch period is over.
Library/Book Fair: This group has a variety
of duties. They prepare the books for inclusion in the library,
educate the students in the care of and respect for books, help
students find appropriate reading material and check books in and
out. They also provide story time for the Kindergarten students.
The book fair volunteers set up displays, staff the sale throughout
the week and pack up when it is over. The books earned through
the sale of books at the fair are then added to the library.
Beautification: The people on this
committee make sure the grounds around the school and church always
look their best. They plant flowers, pull weeds, pick up
litter, spread mulch and whatever else it takes to keep the area
beautiful.
